Discover the serene world of Suminagashi, the ancient Japanese art of marbling. In this meditative workshop, you’ll float inks on water to create beautiful, one-of-a-kind marbled artworks, all while connecting with the calming rhythms of nature. Facilitated by Karolina Slup (Buoyant Press).

What to Expect

Expect a peaceful, reflective experience where you’ll learn the intricate process of floating inks and transferring delicate patterns onto paper. You’ll be guided through each step, exploring the art’s rich history and its connection to impermanence and nature’s flow.

It’s advised to wear clothes that you do not mind getting messy.. Aprons will be provided.

Open to anyone curious about art, mindfulness, or Japanese culture. No prior experience is necessary.

Karolina Slup is a creative producer and founder of Buoyant Press, exploring the themes of wellbeing and human connection with the natural world through art, design, and publishing. In 2024, she led workshops for women affected by the health gender gap and directed an ecology-focused project blending craft with technology on the Isle of Mull, Scotland.

Subsidised Tickets We encourage young people to take part in the group. Participants aged 16-25 can receive a 50% discount on the sessions. To apply, please email events@omvedgardens.com with the event name and a copy of your ID. Discounts are subject to availability.
