Take a midweek pause and spend a restorative summer evening at OmVed Gardens. This self-guided session offers a structured yet gentle introduction to nature journaling as a form of meditation, helping you slow down and reconnect with the natural world using your interests as a compass to guide you.
During this session we'll use self-guided nature journaling to support mindfulness, intentional curiosity and create an awareness of the natural world using the abundance of Omved Gardens as your backdrop. Through simple prompts, quiet observation and little drawings, you’ll be invited to engage with your surroundings — noticing colour, texture, scent, sound, and movement in the gardens.
Nature journaling is not about artistic ability or creative writing. It’s a reflective practice designed to help you focus attention, calm the mind, and cultivate presence.
Please bring along your own notebook and preferred art/writing materials. A clipboard would also be useful if you have your own one to bring. We will have a few art materials and coloured pens to use during the session but we advise you to bring along your own that you like to use.

About the facilitator:
Shilpa Agashe is an Indian artist and software engineer based in London, with a deep connection to nature, especially plants. She has had a regular nature journaling practice for over 5 years. She volunteers for Heath Hands, facilitating workshops and contributing to projects that monitor climate change effects on local flora. Shilpa’s sustainable practice focuses on using recycled materials and natural media such as watercolors and non-acrylic inks as far as possible. In 2021, she spent a year documenting the plants she encountered on her walks through North London, which became a key part of her artistic exploration. She regularly exhibits her work and is passionate about sharing her knowledge and love of nature with others.
