We’re delighted to announce that OmVed Gardens’ new buildings are now officially open for events year-round. This marks a significant milestone in our journey to deepen the connection between people, food, ecology and creativity—and to create a welcoming space where community and nature can thrive.
On Saturday 31 May, we celebrated this moment with hundreds of guests, who joined us for a joyful day of sunshine, shared meals, live music, workshops, and community connection. It was a powerful reminder of what can grow when people come together with curiosity, care and a shared commitment to a more resilient future.
Set within our two-acre North London hillside garden, the new buildings, designed by Piers Smerin with landscaping by Paul Gazerwitz, form a cluster of thoughtfully crafted spaces. From the Greenhouse and Barn to the Kitchen and Seed Library, each space has been designed to support a different aspect of the growing cycle and to bring people into closer relationship with food, nature and each other.
Now that the buildings are open year-round, we’re able to expand our public programming across all seasons. Our 2025 theme, Growing Resilience, comes to life through a full programme of events including hands-on gardening workshops, fermentation and food sustainability courses, artistic residencies and exhibitions, and community gatherings like Supper Clubs, Friday Lates and Slow Sundays.
At the centre of our summer season is artist Vivienne Schadinsky’s exhibition Into the Seeds of Time, which explores the humble bean as a symbol of cultural, ecological and personal transformation. Developed during her year-long residency at OmVed, the exhibition spans sculpture, film, and Japanese ink painting and is open to visitors on weekends through 3 August.
With these new spaces, OmVed Gardens is now better equipped than ever to host a growing community of learners, growers, artists and neighbours. Whether you’re here to get your hands in the soil, explore new ideas, or simply enjoy a quiet moment in nature, we warmly welcome you to come and experience all that the gardens have to offer.
