Announcing Bisila Noha: Ile Ọkàn (House of the Soul)

News

We are delighted to announce Bisila Noha as OmVed Gardens’ Artist of the Month for March. Bisila is the artist behind Ile Ọkàn (House of the Soul), a solo exhibition presented by Thrown, on view at OmVed’s Barn from Friday 20th to Sunday 29th March 2026.

A London-based ceramic artist, Bisila’s practice is rooted in ritual, memory, and her deep engagement with pottery communities across Ivory Coast, Nigeria, and Senegal. Through active participation in women-led ceramic traditions, she explores knowledge systems shaped by land, ancestry, and spirit. Ile Ọkàn (House of the Soul) brings these experiences into dialogue with the natural world, offering a contemplative space for communion with material, memory, and the unseen.

The exhibition opens on Friday 20th March (free admission, registration essential here) and will also count with a special Spring Equinox edition of OmVed's Friday Live evenings titled Intentions, Flourishing Light, an immersive, sound-led gathering guided by Maxine Pennington, founder of Intentions and composer of the exhibition’s soundscape. Aligned with the Equinox and New Moon, this shared sonic experience invites collective stillness, renewal, and attunement to seasonal cycles.

Across the week, the exhibition is accompanied by a series of events that extend its themes of connection and exchange: OmVed’s Spring Seed Swap on Saturday 21st March, celebrating community and the sharing of living knowledge; a special Spring Supper Club held within the exhibition on Thursday 26th March; and a Barn Conversation on Saturday 27th March, where Bisila will share reflections from her travels and the women potters whose artistry and resilience continue to shape her work. The conversation will be facilitated by Claire Pearce, director of Thrown, and held within the exhibition itself, providing a unique perspective on the displayed pieces.

Don’t miss this opportunity to engage with Bisila Noha's artistry and the parallel events surrounding her exhibition.

About the Artist

Bisila Noha is a Spanish-Equatoguinean, London-based ceramic artist, researcher, and writer. Her practice challenges Western distinctions between art and craft, questioning ideas of productivity and value while reflecting on home, oneness, and belonging through lived experiences across pottery communities.

Working with clay, vessels, and sculptural forms, Noha connects material histories to personal and ancestral narratives. A storyteller at heart, she centres the often overlooked contributions of women of colour, using both making and writing as a bridge between forgotten pasts and the present.
