Introducing Miriam Sugranyes, OmVed's February Artist of the Month

News

We are delighted to announce Miriam Sugranyes as OmVed Gardens’ February Artist of the Month. Miriam will be presenting a selection of her work in the Barn, inspired by OmVed’s 2026 theme Listening as Care. Her practice brings together illustration, philosophy, and close observation of the natural world, inviting viewers to slow down and engage with suggestive images that often relate human and non-human kin.

Miriam’s work will be on view during February Open Sunday on 22 February (11am–2pm). As part of the day, she will also lead a hands on workshop titled Portraits from the Garden (11:30am–1pm), offering visitors the opportunity to explore portrait-making through found natural elements, print, and drawing, using listening, observation, and imagination as creative tools.

We’ve selected a few of her illustrations for The Rights Studio Journal, where she translates into images essays by Veronica Yates which aim to question everything we take for granted. In particular, how we contribute – or think we contribute – to a better world.

About the Artist

Miriam Sugranyes is an artist trained in Illustration at Camberwell College of Arts and Philosophy at the University of Barcelona. Her work brings both disciplines together, translating concepts and language into images.

She has published a series of nature-observation colouring books with the publisher mtm — Plants (Herbarium), Birds (Rara Avis), Mushrooms (Boletus), and Butterflies (Suspirium) — as well as titles on animals and trees with Octopus Publishing Group.

Alongside her independent publishing projects, she has been part of the Child Rights International Network (CRIN) team for the past ten years, working as creative director and illustrator. She is also the co-founder of Rights Studio, a collaborative space where individuals and organizations engage with human rights issues through the arts.
