Announcing OmVed's brand new centre for food, ecology and creativity

News

Exciting changes are coming to OmVed Gardens! We’re thrilled to share that after years of nurturing the land, building a vibrant community, and exploring the connections between food, creativity, and ecology, we’re taking a big step forward. In May 2025, OmVed Gardens will reopen with brand new spaces designed to bring people closer to nature, food, and each other. From seed saving to shared meals, our transformed site will be a hub for learning, gathering, and growing, together.

At the heart of our transformation is a series of thoughtfully designed buildings that follow the life cycle of plants, from seed to harvest. The new Greenhouse, Barn, Kitchen with an accessible rooftop garden, and dedicated Seed Library will provide year-round opportunities for exploration, creativity, and connection. Whether you’re here to attend a workshop, share a meal, or simply wander through the gardens, we want you to feel welcome and inspired.

Since opening in 2017, OmVed Gardens has been a space for dialogue and discovery. We’ve worked with global voices in food, ecology, and sustainability, collaborated with organisations like the UN World Food Programme, and hosted events that bring together experts and community members alike. With our expanded facilities, we’re excited to continue these conversations, offer even more hands-on experiences, and provide a space where people of all backgrounds can come together to share knowledge and celebrate nature’s abundance.

The landscape led project by Del Buono Gazerwitz Landscape Architecture in collaboration with Smerin Architects. Our new spaces have been carefully designed with sustainability in mind. Constructed using timber and other eco-conscious materials, the buildings maximize natural light, ventilation, and energy efficiency. Landscape architects del Buono Gazerwitz have also created a stunning hillside pathway, weaving together the gardens, wildflower meadows, and woodland areas to invite curiosity and chance encounters along the way. A permanent sculpture by artist Paul Mount will add another layer of beauty, reminding us of the deep connections between nature, art, and community.

To mark this exciting new chapter, we’re honored to present a solo exhibition by award-winning artist Vivienne Schadinsky. Through film, sculpture, and Japanese ink paintings, her work will trace the journey of beans from seed to harvest, a fitting tribute to the cycles of growth and renewal that define OmVed Gardens.

We can’t wait to welcome you back in May 2025 to experience the transformation for yourself. Whether you’re a longtime friend of OmVed or discovering us for the first time, we invite you to step into our gardens, explore our new spaces, and be part of this growing community. Sign up to our newsletter for updates. See you in the gardens soon!
