Sohini (Smoke & Lime) x OmVed Supper club

Sohini (Smoke & Lime) x OmVed Supper club
GET TICKETS

Join Sohini (Smoke & Lime) and the OmVed kitchen team, as they will together, bring a shared commitment to resourcefulness, transforming food into a multi-sensory feast that honors both the London soil and Bengali heritage.

The OmVed kitchen believes that eating should be a multi-sensory experience that nourishes, excites, and fulfills. We redefine ‘waste’ by creatively repurposing every food scrap and integrating wild, native plants and ferments from their permaculture garden, aiming to reduce energy and water use.

The menu captures the essence of early spring, featuring a variety of plants grown in the garden alongside Sohini’s curated Bengali flavors. Influenced by the global Bangali diaspora, this experience will feel like visiting your dida’s home via the rest of the world. An invitation to engage all your senses and connect through the storytelling and community that sits at the center of their shared work.

What to expect:

  • A wonderful feast from starter to desert

  • A welcome herbal concoction on arrival

  • Drinks will be available for purchase throughout the evening.

  • An opportunity to meet like-minded people in a unique shared table setting

  • Enjoy the gardens and the cozy setting of the OmVed Gardens' Barn

About Sohini Banerjee (Smoke & Lime)

Sohini started Smoke and Lime supper clubs from her tiny one-bedroom flat in North London, with the intention of creating a safe, welcoming space built around a shared table and family-style food. Rooted in the zero-waste ethos of Bangali cooking, her work draws deeply from the flavours and techniques of Kolkata while paying homage to the matriarchs who defined the cuisine. At the same time, her approach is forward-facing, preserving tradition while allowing it to evolve.

Every dish tells a story, whether it’s about the journey of an ingredient, the impact of colonial rule and agricultural change, or Sohini’s own memories of growing up in the North West of England.

Her work has received growing recognition across the food and culture space, with features in Vogue and The Times of India, alongside wider digital and press coverage spotlighting her distinctive approach. Through collaborations, pop-ups, workshops, and mentorship programmes, Sohini continues to expand the reach of Bangali cuisine, bringing its stories and traditions to new audiences while keeping its essence intact.

About the host:

The OmVed Kitchen is a place to research, learn, teach and share knowledge about sustainable culinary practices, where we transform the food harvested in the garden, connect with chefs and food experts from around the world and learn to fuel our bodies, souls and soils. The kitchen hosts food workshops, supper clubs, partnerships with organisations like the World Food Programme & Chefs Manifesto and a yearly Fermentation Celebration. The kitchen is led by Josephine Marchandise & Georgia Dowling.

About OmVed Gardens:

OmVed Gardens is a garden, exhibition, events, and learning space in North London dedicated to exploring the connections between food, ecology and creativity for health and climate resilience. We are on a mission to inspire ecological awareness and action, and deepen our understanding of interconnectedness with the natural world.

As a registered Community Interest Company, all our activities prioritise social and ecological objectives. Whether collaborating with chefs, creatives, gardeners, or schools, OmVed Gardens is a hub for education, connection, and action. We aim to inspire individuals and communities to reimagine their role in building a healthier, more resilient world.

We work to increase biodiversity - of species, seeds, food systems, and participation, through regenerative gardening, seed saving, habitat creation, and ecological education. Our space serves as a living example of how urban areas can be transformed into thriving ecosystems that support both human and non-human communities.
