Work with your hands and the soil itself to build an earthen sculpture, guided by Arran Gregory.
In this collaborative workshop, artist Arran Gregory guides participants through the creation of a rammed earth head sculpture, a living work that will be situated into the gardens and evolve with the seasons.
What to expect
Working together as a group, you will mix, cast and ram earth using natural materials and traditional techniques to create a collective sculpture that becomes part of OmVed's landscape.
What you'll learn
How to prepare a rammed earth mixture, cast using the artist's own mould, and embed seeds into the work, so the sculpture continues to grow, change and evolve long after the workshop ends.

What's included
All materials, tools and guidance.
Who can take part
Open to all. Adults and young people aged 8 and up are welcome. Children will need to be accompanied by an adult and tickets for all children and adults will need to be purchased seperately. This workshop is primarily designed for adults but its tactile, intuitive process is naturally accessible to all ages. Willingness to get your hands in the earth.
Please note the workshop will take place outside regardless of the weather so please come appropriately prepared.
About the Host

Arran Gregory is a British Sri-Lankan sculptor and artist based in London. His practice seeks to perceive the self through nature, rather than nature through the self.
Through his series 'Earth Body', living land art interventions made from unfired clay and gathered materials, he invites the environment as collaborator.
Working across sculpture and site-responsive installation, Gregory’s approach is both physical and philosophical, rooted in a deep engagement with the natural world and a desire to rethink our place within it.
In line with OmVed Gardens’ 2026 theme, Listening as Care, his work is a commitment to natural materials and intuitive processes,
exploring the relationship between the human body and the wider ecology it belongs to.

OmVed Gardens is a garden, exhibition, events, and learning space in North London dedicated to exploring the connections between food, ecology and creativity for health and climate resilience. We are on a mission to inspire ecological awareness and action, and deepen our understanding of interconnectedness with the natural world.
As a registered Community Interest Company, all our activities prioritise social and ecological objectives. Whether collaborating with chefs, creatives, gardeners, or schools, OmVed Gardens is a hub for education, connection, and action. We aim to inspire individuals and communities to reimagine their role in building a healthier, more resilient world.
We work to increase biodiversity - of species, seeds, food systems, and participation, through regenerative gardening, seed saving, habitat creation, and ecological education. Our space serves as a living example of how urban areas can be transformed into thriving ecosystems that support both human and non-human communities.
