Intentions is an immersive, sound-led gathering, guided by Maxine Pennington and devoted to nurturing the heart, soul, and body. Weaving musical and spiritual tonalities, it opens a shared field where presence, collective stillness, and inner movement can unfold. Attuned to lunar cycles and the natural living world, these gatherings invite deeper connection with nature, one another, and the subtle inner landscape.
This edition unfolds at the Spring Equinox, a turning point in the solar year when day and night stand in equilibrium and the seasonal cycle turns toward renewal. Following winter’s inward phase, this moment marks the return of growth, movement, and light — a transition mirrored in human rhythms. Aligned with the New Moon, it offers a space to listen for what is ready to begin and to move into the coming season with intention and care.
Taking place as part of Bisila Noha: Ile Ọkàn (House of the Soul) exhibition, the gathering unfolds in dialogue with themes of ritual, spirit, and our relationship to the natural world. Sound becomes a subtle thread connecting inner and outer landscapes, echoing the exhibition’s exploration of communion with land, memory, and the unseen.
Rather than a performance to watch, Intentions is a shared atmosphere to inhabit. Sound and subtle shifts in energy guide participants through a contemplative journey — from grounding in the body and the present moment, to inner listening, and toward a renewed sense of connection with self, community, and the cycles that hold us.
This session is guided by Maxine Pennington, founder of Intentions, through a carefully curated DJ set designed to hold and support this shared space. She is also the composer of the exhibition’s soundscape, extending the sonic environment of the gallery into this live experience.
