Please note: We are now at capacity for our Spring Open Day & Seed Swap. You are invited to join our next open day on 19 April, Open Gardens Fundraiser for the North London Hospice or check out all of our upcoming events to visit the gardens.
Join us at OmVed Gardens for our Spring Open Day and Seed Swap — a joyful celebration of the Spring Equinox open to all.
Come along to explore the gardens, browse the library, meet the team, enjoy seasonal refreshments and learn from special guests. Whether you're curious about where your food comes from, interested in nature and the seasons, or simply looking for a welcoming community event, there's something here for you.
Event Highlights:
Seed Swap: Bring your surplus seeds and discover new varieties to try in your garden next season. From heirloom vegetables to rare flowers, there's something for everyone - we love to receive seeds and appreciate donations but don’t feel pressure coming empty handed!
Winnowing fans and seed baskets: OmVed Gardens Artist of the Month of April, Éamonn Ó Hairtnéada, will be showing his current research on seed baskets and give live demos. He'll bring his European scuttle work; a technique used for the making of historic winnowing fans; and used to separate the wheat from chaff, and his traditional Irish ash riddles used to sift oats and barleys. Éamonn is an Irish/Dutch visual artist, farmer and craftsmaker based in Devonshire, England. Post arts education he studied an MA in Regenerative Economics at Schumacher College. He uses the materiality and metaphors of weaving to explore holistic, regenerative and ecological narratives. He co-hosts Hedging with Faggots and Friends hedgelaying courses and has recently designed a public garden; The Interwoven Garden at De Ateliers, Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
Family activity: Make your own Bee bombs! Using pollinator-friendly native wildflower seeds, come and create your own mini bee shaped seed bombs to box up and take home. Plant them in your garden, give them as a gift or brighten up your neighbourhood with a little guerrilla gardening magic. Hosted by Artist Corrie Wingate.
Refreshments: Enjoy seasonal refreshments made from locally sourced ingredients, including herbal teas, freshly baked goods from the OmVed Kitchen. Plus Kinda Grind will be serving delicious dairy-free coffee from their coffee truck.
Visit the exhibition “Bisila Noha: Ile Ọkàn (House of the Soul)”: A solo exhibition by Bisila Noha, a Spanish-Equatoguinean London-based ceramic artist, researcher and writer. Expanding on Bisila’s first Ile Ọkàn, originally built in Ikise, Nigeria, during a residency in 2025, the exhibition reflects on a four-year journey of material and spiritual exploration, bringing together sculpture, vessels, stools, photography and sound to create a space that is part shrine, part altar, part sacred room, all shaped by ritual, memory, and a desire for connection.
About the Seed Saving Network:
The Seed Saving Network is an initiative started by Omved Gardens. In addition to sharing seed amongst our community, we are building a living seed library, growing, storing and collecting data on organic seed at our kitchen garden in Highgate, North London.
